The John A. Logan College Board of Trustees will honor former board member Don Brewer by dedicating the Donald L. Brewer Gymnasium and Convocation Center on Wednesday, January 9 between the Colleges women's and men's basketball games against Lincoln Trail. The women's game will start at 5:30 with the dedication immediately following. A reception will be held in the Hall of Fame room at half-time of the men's game.
The dedication is in honor of Don Brewer's outstanding contributions as a leader in education, dedicated public servant and friend of the College. Serving the College from 1973-2007 he was recently recognized as the longest serving community college board member in the state of Illinois. He served as Chairman for eleven of his 34 years on the board. A former teacher, coach and administrator he retired as the Regional Superintendent of Schools for Jackson and Perry County in 2004. In addition to his contributions in education he was inducted into the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame this past summer.
