Logan Hosts Student Art Exhibition and Contest

John A. Logan College is currently hosting its annual Student Art Exhibition in its museum galleries located in the B, C, and E Wings of the College. The show is open to the public at no charge, and the art will be on display through May 17. Viewing hours are 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

An awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 7, at 1 p.m. in the Student Activities Lounge. First, second, and third place awards will be given to the top exhibits and five honorable mention awards will be handed out.

Adrienne Barkley Giffin, director of student activities and cultural events at Logan, helped organize the exhibition with full-time art faculty members, Darby Ortolano and Drew Tucker, and says the show features a wide variety of artwork.

“There are about 100 pieces in the exhibit,” Giffin said. “Students who took art classes here during the past year have submitted some beautiful and imaginative pieces that include drawings, paintings, sculptures, and photography. The students have done a wonderful job, and I encourage everyone to come and check out their work.”
