ULLICO Donation Helps Make JALC Golf Classic a Success
August 21, 2018
The John A. Logan College Foundation recently received a three thousand dollar gift from the Union Labor Life Insurance Company (ULLICO) to help offset the cost of the Foundation’s 41st Annual JALC Golf Classic.
The Golf Classic is one of the oldest fundraisers of its type in the region and is the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser to benefit student scholarships. The Foundation awards and administers more than 600 scholarships each year totaling more than 1.5 million dollars.
This year’s tournament was held at the Crab Orchard Golf Course in Carterville and hosted 39 teams and numerous sponsors. While final numbers were not available at press time the Foundation’s Executive Director, Staci Shafer, knows that donations like the one from ULLICO make a remarkable difference.
“It is donations like this from Mr. Ed Smith and his team at ULLICO that help us offset the cost of the fundraiser insuring that more money goes into the hands of students who desperately need it,” said Shafer. “I can’t thank them enough for their generous support.”
