JALC’s Barkley Giffin Selected Regional Coordinator for PTK

Adrienne Barkley Giffin was selected by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) to be the Illinois Regional Coordinator in early June. As the leader of the Region, she facilitates the relationship between Illinois’ 56 chapters with PTK Headquarters, advises a team of five students who serve as Regional Officers, and works with chapter advisors throughout the Region to coordinate conferences and activities.
Adrienne has been the advisor of the Upsilon Pi Chapter at John A. Logan College since October 2013. Under her leadership, the chapter achieved Five Star status in 2014 and has maintained that status to the present. The chapter is also a four-time international Top 100 Chapter. Adrienne is certified in the PTK Leadership Development Program and recipient of the Paragon Award for New Advisors. She is an alumna of John A. Logan College and the Upsilon Pi Chapter. Adrienne graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Southern Illinois University and went on to earn a master of public administration degree also from SIU. She has served as Director of Student Activities at John A. Logan College since 2006.
Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society for two-year colleges and is made up of more than 3.5 million members and nearly 1,300 chapters in 10 nations.
