CARTERVILLE — The John A. Logan College women’s volleyball team is undefeated in conference play (5-0) and just returned from Parkland College in Champaign where the team went 4-0.

Vols’ volleyball is now 13-5 on the season, despite injuries and two young setters.

“For the challenges we have faced early in the season, I am very impressed and very proud of this team,” said head coach Bill Burnside. “This team loves to compete.”

Said Burnside, "We have an exceptional group of sophomores that set a great example on the court and off. They have led our team through the challenges and always kept a positive attitude. It has been a pleasure to work with them and I will be sad to see them go. They have represented John A Logan extremely well and I am tremendously proud of them.”

The coach added, "On the court, all of our sophomores are making key contributions. Ahnie Hoff has been our leader in kills all season despite fighting a back injury, Brooke Hogard has been leading us in blocks and providing excitement and energy every day, Cheyenne Pitchford has been blocking well and producing despite multiple injuries, Emily Burkitt has stepped up her game tremendously this year and is getting more productive as a hitter and defender every game, and Carolyn Phoenix has led us in digs all season long and provided very solid passing."
