CARTERVILLE — Courtney Crull — who led John A. Logan College’s volleyball team in aces and assists as a setter last season — will continue her career at Evangel University in Springfield, Mo.

Crull is a graduate of North Clay Community High School in Louisville. She played one year at Frontier Community College in Fairfield before transferring to John A. Logan College to play for head coach Bill Burnside.

“Courtney will be hard to replace next season,” Burnside said. “In fact, we will be going in to the new season with two freshmen setters. It will be a big challenge to get them working at the level our sophomore setters were performing at this past season.”

Because of her success at Logan, Crull made the NJCAA All-Region 24 Team.

She led Logan with .34 aces per game, 4.72 assists per game, and she averaged 2.12 digs per game.

“It was a pleasure coaching Courtney for the past year,” Burnside said. “I only wish we could have had her here for 2 years instead of one. She is a hard worker and very reliable on the court. She responds well to coaching and is extremely athletic for her size. Evangel is going to be very glad to have her.”

Said Burnside, “I only wish that Evangel was a little closer to Southern Illinois. I would love to have the opportunity to see her play at the next level.”
