INA - Sophomore guard Haley Darnell poured in 23 points off the bench. Freshman Ariel Crump followed with 20 points and a team-high 11 rebounds from her point guard position and sophomore McKena Miller tallied 17 points and had five rebounds to lead John A. Logan College to a 79-68 win over Rend Lake Tuesday night.

With the victory, the Volunteers improve to 22-5 overall, 14-3 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. The Warriors complete league play at 8-8 and are 14-11 to close out the regular season.

"In the second half, we played much better and did a good job of attacking with the basketball," said JALC head coach Amanda Shelby. "It was important to come back strong after the loss on Saturday and that's exactly what the kids did tonight."

Crump's double-double was her first of the season.

"I'm just glad we got the 'W' for the team," the freshman said. "We were very motivated to get this one tonight. We had to keep pushing hard because Rend Lake was making it tough on us."

Miller felt similarly.

"We have had some games like this of late," the Carbondale product said. "We fall down and then come back. Fortunately, we have a group of girls that just don't quit. We weren't going to hang our heads after the loss on Saturday."

Tiaunna Watkins also hit for double figures for the Vols with 11 points. Gabby Sanders checked in with eight points.

Logan will return to action at 5 p.m. Friday against Lincoln Trail.
