Bowling Fundraiser Draws Big Crowd

Monies raised at SI Bowl Sunday benefit JALC Athletics
CARTERVILLE – The mood was festive Sunday afternoon at the SI Bowl in Carterville as more than 100 supporters of John A. Logan College Athletics competed in an annual bowling tournament to help raise money for the program.
The event was sponsored by 17th Street Bar & Grill, Koerner Distributor, and Egypt Trophy.
Placing first in the team competition was Skystar with a scratch series of 3,332. Team members include: Cody Jergens, Matthew Witt, Randy Duncan, Martin Grant and Eric Melvin.
Top female bowlers were Brenda Walker (High Game at 264) and Patricia Robbins (High Series at 626). Top male bowlers were Martin Grant (High Game at 264) and Jeremy Madej (High Series at 819).
“I can’t be more thankful for our supporters, which included alumni, former players, and business people, giving up their Sunday afternoon to help our cause,” said JALC Athletic Director Jerry Halstead. “In this time of financial difficulty, fundraisers like these supplement our budgets and are very important for us to keep our programs’ high standards. I thought the Southern Illinois community really responded to our needs today.”
