CARTERVILLE - The John A. Logan College softball team had its nine-game win streak snapped Thursday as Wabash Valley swept a doubleheader from the Volunteers, 5-1 and 5-0.

Producing the only run of the day for Logan offensively was freshman Anna Mansfield, who stroked a solo homer in Game 1 off the scoreboard.

Credited with the loss in the opener was sophomore starter Heather Johnson (3-5). Picking up the loss in the nightcap was freshman Jolyn Lake (8-4), whose personal seven-game win streak was also snapped.

"It wasn't a very fruitful day for us," said Vols head coach Bruce Jilek. "Give credit to Wabash. They played well. Their pitching was good. We didn't really handle it at all. They also hit the ball much better than we did."

Logan is now 11-7 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and 16-11 overall. The Vols have today off and will then play a doubleheader at noon Saturday at Shawnee followed up by two games at Southeastern Illinois Sunday.
