The following list of online databases will provide you with access to a variety of resources including newspapers, popular magazines, scholarly journals, transcripts, etc. Some databases are available off-campus to John A. Contemporary Literary Criticism
An extensive collection of critical essays on contemporary authors including a biographical and critical introduction,
a listing of principal works and sources for further study.
CQ Researcher
The most current and controversial issues of the day with complete summaries, the pros and cons, bibliographies
and more. Coverage is from 1923-present.

Provides full text articles from over 1,000 general reference, arts, business, consumer health, general science, and
muti-cultural journals and newspapers.
Facts on File
Known as a good source for current events research, Facts on File contains The World News Digest, Issues and Controversies, Today's Science, The World Almanac, and World Almanac Encyclopedia.
Harpers Weekly
A major primary source for learning about the 19th century. The articles cover the period of time from 1857 until 1889. (on-campus only)
HeritageQuest Online
combines digital, searchable images of U.S. federal census records with the digitized version of the popular UMI
Genealogy & Local History collection and other valuable content.
MagillOnLiterature Plus
This database includes literary works, reviewed critical analyses and brief plot summaries as well as all the biographies
and author essays.
NetLibrary
Access to various ebooks.
News Bank
This database gives you access to over six hundred US and seven hundred International newspapers. Information from a select
group of news magazines and special reports are also available. (includes New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and the Southern Illinoisan)
New York Times 1851-2003
A complete full text archive of the New York Times with digital reproductions providing access to every page from every issue
covering 1851-2003.
NoveList
A fiction database that provides subject heading access, reviews, annotations, and much more for over 135,000 fiction titles.
It also includes other content of interest to fiction readers, such as Author Read-alikes, What We're Reading, Book Discussion Guides,
BookTalks, and Annotated Book Lists. For school media specialists and teachers there are Picture Book Extenders and articles on
Teaching with Fiction.
OCLC First Search
This site connects you to information covering a wide range of subjects in fifteen+ databases. Some of the more well known
databases include Medline, WorldCat, Wilson Select Plus and ERIC.

A complete one-stop source for information on social issues. This site allows you to access viewpoint articles, topic overviews,
statistics, primary documents and full text magazine and newspaper articles.
Oxford English Dictionary

The financial newspaper of record offering in-depth coverage of national and international finance as well as first rate coverage
of hard news from 1982- present.
Wilson Biographies Plus Illustrated
Provides access to more than one hundred forty thousand individuals with links to full text articles, abstracts,
