Logan Memorial Collection

***The Logan Memorial Collection was established as part of the John A. Logan College Museum and is dedicated to memorabilia of John A. Logan and associated family members.

***The Logan Memorial Collection includes a number of rare and out of print books that are related to the history and time period in which John A. Logan lived.  These include books written by Logan himself, as well as by his wife Mary Cunningham Logan.

***The collection also has many items that have been organized into the categories of Objects, Graphics, Documents, Pamphlets, Postcards, Letters and Periodicals.  Framed items and Objects remain with the Museum collection, but the other items have been moved to the Library Archive.  These items are a part of the Archive collection, and will be available for research opportunities. 

The Archive is open to the public and arrangements for research can be made with Judy Vineyard , Associate Dean of Library Services, (618) 985-2828 ext. 8404.

Graphics

******This is a collection of photographs, and reprints of John A. Logan, his wife, Mary, and other family members.  There are also reprints of lithographs and engravings of Logan as a Union General in the Civil War, as well as other Union soldiers and generals.  Items of interest include: Impeachment Committee for President Johnson, Grand Army of the Republic reunion and a political cartoon during Logan ’s run for Vice President with Presidential candidate, James G. ***This collection includes personal greeting and holiday cards, as well as commercially produced cards with Logan ’s portrait. To see a listing Click Here

Documents

***This category includes documents pertaining to the Logan family history as well as the nomination of Logan as Presidential candidate for the Republican Party in 1884. To see a listing Click Here

Letters

***This group of artifacts includes letters, invitations and notes written by John A. Logan, and his wife, Mary, and letters pertaining to historic research with Logan descendants. Letters written between members of the Logan family from 1847 to 1861 have been microfilmed from the National Archives and transferred to CD format for viewing. To see a listing Click Here
