From Aerobics to Zoology and many programs in between, the Life Science Department challenges their students to think outside the box, as well as their comfort zone. With courses in Biological Sciences, Health, Anatomy and Physiology, and Physical Education, this department offers students a variety of disciplines. Transfer classes have been designed to articulate with other colleges and universities. This articulation will help you successfully prepare for your continued education. It doesn't stop there. Our faculty and staff are ready to help students whether it's from the inside of a classroom, a biology lab, or outside in the fresh air during a field trip. And if needed, our Student Success Center offers extra assistance with a biology tutoring center.
Our Community Health Education Complex (CHEC) is a state-of-the art fitness and aquatic center. Dedicated in 2003, the facility is located just west of the main campus and offers a full-service fitness center as well as two swimming pools (therapy and lap). A host of classes from Aqua Yoga to Zumba can be found in their curriculum. Visit their website for a full listing of courses and information. The water is wet and the iron is pumping. Treadmills are running, and it's an excellent way to help work off that semester stress.
Don't forget to check out and participate in yearly events offered through the Life Science Department which include the Heart Walk (October), the Snowman Shuffle (January) and adventures to be found during an annual Costa Rica tour (January), as well as many other avenues.
