One-Box Shoot

On October 13, 2007 the John A. Logan College Foundation hosted its 13th annual "One-Box Shoot." Click here to see pictures from the event.

A unique fund-raising event, the "One-Box Shoot" is a wing-shooting competition in which teams of four hunters, given 25 shells (one box), have two hours to score points using a system under which released game birds are harvested. Chukars score 2 points and quail score 5 points. Hunters may utilize a maximum of two dogs on the ground per team.

This year eight teams participated in the event. Some teams have been active in the One-Box Shoot for many years while others were first time contestants.

  1. Team 1. Brothers
  2. Team 2. Hacke
  3. Team 3. Legan
  4. Team 4. Martin
  5. Team 5. McCormick
  6. Team 6. Spencer
  7. Team 7. Stoltzfus
  8. Team 8. Hancock

Each participant of the top scoring team received a one-of-a kind trophy plus a cornfield camo coat. Image Architectural Firm donated jackets as the second place prize. Gun cases and caps were awarded for third place. First place, with a score of 49, went to the Stoltzfus team. Second place, with a score of 45, went to the Brothers team. Third place, with a score of 44 went to the Hacke team.

Participants were served breakfast and lunch prepared by the Foundation and College staff. A great time was had by all!

Special thanks go to Virgil Lukens and members of the Foundation and College staff for all their work in making this year's event fun and successful. The Foundation also wishes to thank and acknowledge the County Line Hunting Club of Macedonia for its continuing support of this annual event.
