Dr. Jane Bryant’s Biography

Jane Bryant

Dr. Jane Bryant has been an employee of John A Logan College since 1990; first as a part–time community education coordinator, then as a part-time instructor. Concurrently, she worked full–time for a local public housing agency while she put herself through college. In 2004, she was hired full–time to teach Political Science.

Jane utilizes her 20 year work experience in social services, along with her educational experience in sociology (BA), administration of justice (MA), and political science (PhD) to provide a broader scope of instruction for her political science students. Her research interests concentrate on political behavior – more specifically how political education affects students’ attitudes and understanding of American Government. She has published a book chapter from her master’s thesis focused on crime victims and is currently drafting several articles detailing how teaching methods affect students’ political knowledge.

A near–life long resident, one of Jane’s brothers determined that she is “totally Murphysboro” because she refuses to move from the Southern Illinois area. In her spare time, Jane enjoys following local and national politics, watching movies, and engaging in outdoor activities with family and friends. Her current mantra is “life is good!”
