Chemistry

Chemistry in the department of physical sciences strives for an ideal balance between student's pursuit of knowledge and knowledge dissemination in the chemical sciences, with a focus on quality student training and education.

Our mission is to train and mentor students, whether they are utilizing chemistry to compliment other academic goals or taking their first steps as a responsible scientists and scientifically literate professionals, before realizing their ultimate goals at other institutions. The department offers an Associate in Science degree and is a baccalaureate transfer program designed for students wishing to pursue a field of study related to chemistry, Associate in Science in Chemistry, Pre-chiropractic, Pre-pharmacy, and Pre-professional medicine.

Other Associate in Science degrees requiring chemistry courses are, A. S. in Agriculture, Biology, Engineering Science, Physics, and Associate in Applied Science in Dental Hygiene, Nursing, and Medical Lab Technology. The departments' courses compliment the goals across the curriculum, injecting new instrumentation and information technology techniques into the laboratory to match progress in industry.
