Gayle Pesavento's Biography

Gayle Pesavento

Gayle Pesavento is an Associate Professor of Speech and has been at John A. Logan College since 1981. She taught high school in central Illinois for seven years prior to that. At JALC, she taught for five years as a term instructor before becoming full time in 1986 and has taught in speech, English, and journalism. Gayle has advised The Volunteer and directed plays prior to her selection as International Education Coordinator in 1994. She served that position until becoming chair of the Humanities Department in 2008. Gayle currently teaches public speaking, interpersonal communication, and telecourses in family communication and the American short story.

Gayle serves on the Curriculum and Instruction Committee, the International Education Committee, the Diversity Committee, the Planning Council, and is a founding mother of the Mary Logan Scholarship. She is a member of the Illinois Speech and Theater Association, the National Communication Association, and representative to the Illinois Consortium for International Studies and Programs. She spent Fall 2007 in Canterbury, England, on sabbatical as part of a study abroad program there which is available to JALC students.
