Maudie L. Graham (MA, University of Northern Colorado, 1976) is a Professor in the department and teaches Advanced Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Logic, and Speech. Her specialty areas include argument, conflict theory, discourse processing, rhetoric, and theory construction. She is published in Communication Monographs, Communication Yearbook, and Human Communication Research. Prior to teaching at the College, she taught at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, the University of Illinois - Urbana, Illinois State University, the University of Northern Colorado, and Los Angeles Unified School District - South (Watts). She holds certification in Illinois and is registered in ROE #30 for standard secondary teaching (#2247705) with the following endorsements: English - Senior HS, Speech - Junior and Senior HS, Speech/Theatre - Junior and Senior HS. She chose teaching as a career because she wanted always to be a student. Each class, each student, presents her with an opportunity to learn.
She is a member of the National Communication Association and the Illinois Speech and Theatre Association. She serves on the College’s Faculty and Staff Development Committee and is the transfer education member-at-large for the John A. Logan College Faculty Association. Recently, she became a College team member of the Academy for Assessment of Student Learning through the Higher Learning Commission.
