Robyn Stevens' Biography

Robyn Stevens

After graduating from Galatia high School, Robin earned an athletic scholarship to run track and cross-country for Purdue University under the direction of head coach Fred Wilt. Robyn's first job at the university was tutoring other athletes, and it was at that time that she discovered that she wanted to be a teacher. Upon completing her BA degree in English with a minor in Medieval Studies, Robyn returned home to southern Illinois to pursue her interests in teaching and writing. Robyn finished her MA degrees at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in English with a concentration in Creative Writing as well as in Education.

Since Robyn loves to learn and share ideas with other writers and teachers, she has attended the Iowa Summer Writing Festival for the last three years, participating in workshops about writing essays, poetry, and fiction. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the International Reading Association (IRA). Robyn thoroughly enjoys helping students at John A. Logan College to reach their goals.
