Cheryl Barrall's Biography

Cheryl Barrall

A native of central Illinois (Effingham and Salem) Cheri Barrall came to Carbondale as an undergraduate English education student in 1989. She graduated two years later and began teaching and coaching at several local schools.

Becoming an SIUC student once again in 2000, Cheri began a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction/Instructional Design. After completing that degree, she took a challenging job designing training curriculum in the business world and anxiously awaited the opportunity to return to teaching.

She enthusiastically realized that opportunity and joined the John A. Logan English department in August 2003. What she has enjoyed most in her first semester is the warmth of her colleagues and the energy of her students.
