Citrix Setup Guide

 

In order to access the John A. Logan College Citrix server you first need to install the Citrix ICA Web Client for 32-bit Windows. To do this visit http://citrix.jalc.edu. You must be using Internet Explorer and have Microsoft Windows 98/2000/Me/XP for this to work. Install the Citrix ICAWeb Client for 32-bit Windows. The link is provided in the login screen as seen by the red arrow.

 

You will get a Dialog box that looks like the following:

Click Open.

The program will be downloaded onto your computer. It is about a 3 MB download. On a 56k connection it will take approximately 30 minutes to download.

After the download is finished it will flash two screens up and come to another dialog box.

Click Yes as shown by the red arrow.

You will then get another dialog box.

Click Yes again.

When the installation is complete you will get the following screen.

Make sure you close your browser out completely and reopen http://citrix.jalc.edu

Once you have installed the ICA Web Client for 32-bit Windows you need to login into the Citrix server. Your username is your first name followed by your last name, all uppercase, without any spaces. Your password is the first three letters of your last name, which must be capitalized, followed by the last four digits of STUDENT ID NUMBER(Not Social Security Number). Your password is CASE SENSITIVE. Under Domain you MUST enter citrix otherwise your login will be rejected.

Once this is done you will be taken to another screen that will have icons for the various programs you are allowed to use. Simply click on an icon and the appropriate program will launch without having been installed on your computer. After the program loads use it as any normal program running on your computer. When you need to save your work you have two options: You can either save it to your local A: drive or you can save it to your C: drive by finding the drive letter with C$ in the description. After finding the C$ drive select the folder to which you wish to save your work. You can then copy the file to your USB drive or email it to your instructor.

Please Note that you cannot save directly to a USB drive from within the citrix application.
