Orientations

Family Child Care Orientation
Monthly two hour orientations are scheduled in the CCR&R office for prospective and beginning child care providers. There is no fee but registration 48 hours before the oreintation is required. ( 2 hour in-service )

Opening a Child Care Center
This one hour consultation is designed to provide an outline of considerations when opening a child care center. Appointments for these consultation sessions ae required. ( 1 hour in-service )

DCFS Licensing Orientation
These sessions are held 2-3 times a year and are presented by DCFS Licensing staff. There is no fee but pre-registration is required. ( 3 hour in-service )

Resources for the Early Childhood Professional 
This orientation focuses on the professional resources available through CCR&R as well as other community agencies. This session can be presented on-site to center staff upon request. There is no fee but registration is required. ( 1- hour in-service )

Workshops

CCR&R offers a number of workshops on a variety of different topics throughout the year. Many of the workshops are offered at the CCR&R Family and Early Childhood Resource Centers located in Harrisburg, McLeansboro, Carterville, Carbondale, Jonesboro, Cairo and at the Shawnee College Annex in Anna. Information on specific workshop topics is provided in the monthly CCR&R Training Calendar.

Local Conferences

There are a number of local annual conferences to choose from throughout the year. Many providers enjoy networking with their peers as well as the variety of sessions. Training Series

The following trainings are offered throughout the year and may lead to attainment of accreditation, a CDA credential, CCP Credential and/or may apply to being eligible for a Great START Supplement. The hours count as in-service hours required by DCFS Licensing and result in the attainment of college credit hours or continuing education units. Although many of these credit hours are considered to be in the early childhood field, most credits will not transfer to a college degree.

College Course Work

The following colleges offer courses in early childhood education, child care and related topics. Whether the interest is in pursuing a degree or just receiving additional instruction, the college can offer exciting educational opportunities. These hours also count as in-service hours required for DCFS Licensing, can be applied to achieving a CDA Credential and /or may apply to being eligible for a Great START Wage Supplement.
