Speaking of Success
A Program to Look up to
Guy Alongi, chairman of the Illinois Community College Board, said, “John A. Logan is one of the crown jewels of the Illinois Community College System and the nation. It has always been out front in a leadership role when it comes to business and industry, both locally and nationwide. To see a community college in the heartland with this national award is just outstanding.”
Alongi said that the administration and board of trustees and that all those involved are to be congratulated on such a prestigious award and the entire Community College System in Illinois is proud of their efforts.
Dr. Robert L. Mees, president of John A. Logan College, said the center’s work has been recognized locally through partnerships with businesses, local and state governments, independent consultants, social service agencies, development groups, organized labor, and other educational institutions. In addition, local businesses have shown their appreciation by donating more than $400,000 to support the center.
“The national recognition we are received helps us highlight that which we have already been successful in doing – working hand–in–hand with other entities to create local jobs,” Mees said. “As a community college, we view our role with economic development as a top priority.”
Other colleges throughout the nation are looking up to the John A. Logan College Center for Business and Industry after it won a national Best Practice in Community Economic Development Award.
