What's New at the Center for Business & Industry
Pharmacy Technician Training Program

John A. Logan College –- Center for Business and Industry now offers a training program for those who wish to learn skills for an entry-level healthcare profession. The John A. Logan College Pharmacy Technician program prepares students to enter the pharmacy field in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, or community pharmacies as an ancillary.  Pharmacy technician’s work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Course content will include medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic and brand names.  Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding and dose conversions.  Dispensing prescriptions, inventory control, billing and reimbursement will also be discussed.

Completion requirements: Upon successful completion of the program students will receive a John A. Logan College Certificate of Completion and will be eligible to take the National Pharmacy Technician Exam. To receive the Certificate students must have a good attendance record, complete all assignments, and successfully pass quizzes and exams. Although this is a CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT program, letter grades will be assigned.

Admission requirements: Students must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Length of program: 12 weeks. Includes 60 classroom hours.

When: Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, August 26th through November 18th, 2008

Classroom times: 6:30-9:00 p.m.

Cost: $999.00 includes textbooks, supplies and materials.

Refund Policy:  Once you are registered, you must call to cancel your enrollment.  Refunds will not be given once the class has started.  The College reserves the right to cancel any program.  In such cases, a full refund is made.
