The Center for Business and Industry can customize a variety of industrial topics that can help you improve the skills of your maintenance personnel.  These flexible programs can be held on-site or at our campus and will be offered at times that will fit your shift schedule. 

The following is a sample list of courses available:

 

Computer-Aided Drafting Provides an understanding of standard mechanical drafting practice, design, and manufacturing drafting practices. Courses can include standard projections, sectioning, auxiliary work, assembly drawings, and tolerancing. Specialties can include product design, advanced tolerancing, tool design, detail and assembly, and 3D drawings.
PLCs Introduces the student to programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Emphases can be on components, specifications, system layout, installation procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting. Hands-on lab experiences can also be included.
Blue Print Reading Teaches students how to visualize and interpret industrial prints related to their jobs. Emphasis can be placed on industrial practice, types of drawings, or geometric dimensioning. Classes can be taught using your blueprints.
Industrial Electricity Introduces students to basic theories of electronics. Topics can include AC/DC fundamentals, solid state circuits, digital electronics, solid state, power distribution and motors.
Computer-Aided Machining (CAM) Provides training in shop safety, feeds and speeds, tooling and set-up application,  measurement, layout procedures, grinding, drilling and tapping, tooling, CNC programming, production machining techniques, and jigs and fixtures.
Heating and Air Conditioning Various topics can be developed covering heating and air conditioning principles, refrigeration, and the EPA's CFC freon certification.
Welding Students will learn the basics of arc welding, M.I.G., T.I.G., all position welding, pipe welding, brazing and soldering, metallurgy, and metal cutting.
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Designed to introduce students to uses of GD&T. Some areas of study include datums, flatness, perpendicularity, profiles, and position.
