SUMMER FACILITIES Building and HVAC Maintenance. Assist HVAC and Building Maintenance staff with repairs and general maintenance functions as directed. Safely use all tools and equipment related to building and HVAC maintenance work. Read and follow printed instructions, communicate via radio and phone. Move, transfer, and lift large heavy materials. Assist with preparation and breakdown for special events and assist other departments and perform other duties as assigned. Assist staff with equipment surveys and implementation of energy savings measures. Must have a valid driver’s license. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE.
FALL ATHLETICS Reception. answering of the phones, filing, running errands on campus (taking folders to other offices, picking up supplies from Campus Support Services). Helping with fund raisers for the bowling and fish fry each year. Help with mailings for coaches and helping to answer questions for students and advisees that come into the office. MUST HAVE A MIDDAY BLOCK AVAILABILITY.
BIOLOGY Lab Assistant. Assist Biology Science Lab Technician in preparing and taking down Biology Lab materials. This includes cleaning lab surfaces, preparing media and solutions. In addition it requires organizing and storing materials, providing dissection materials, operating the autoclave, cleaning various glassware and equipment, maintaining the aquariums, and plant materials. Some heavy lifting is required. It is necessary that the student be well organized and dependable. It is helpful if the student has an interest in science. Some computer and math skills are required. Student will be working with approximately 20 faculty members, and will assist with approximately 50 labs per week. MUST BE AVAILABILE HAVE 7:30 A.M.
CAMPUS SUPPORT SERVICES Office Support/Mail Distribution. Making copies, filling supply requests, assisting with supply room, distributing incoming mail to mailboxes, answering phones, assisting copy clerk with distributions, cutting, folding, inventory, daily delivery of mail to college offices. Process bulk mailings as needed, daily processing of mail using postage equipment, occasional delivery of mailings and/or certified mail to local post office in Carterville. This position requires daily interaction between faculty, staff, and students. Must have own transportation. Must be able to lift and deliver by dolly at least one case of copy paper. Other duties as assigned. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE.
CAREER SERVICES Secretarial. Typing, filing, keep job list updated, put job list on bulletin boards on campus, copying, making Kuder and resume appointments, assisting students, reception, phones and running errands. MUST BE FEDERAL WORK STUDY AND HAVE AN A.M. BLOCK AVAILABILITY MONDAY – FRIDAY.
CENTER FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT Secretarial. Typing, filing, answering phones, data entry, copying, ordering supplies, running errands on campus, assist with mailings, stocking supplies, prepare instructor packets, greet clients and students, processing tuition waivers, working with spreadsheets, using the Time Clock system. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE.
FINANCIAL AID Clerical. Typing, Filing, making new files, filling bins with Financial Aid paperwork and information, assisting students at the computer stations who are completing FAFSAS. Answer telephones, process mail, check financial aid rosters, copying, scanning, shredding, assembling financial aid packets, inventory, assessments and covering front desk during lunch hours. Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 2 POSITIONS. MUST BE FEDERAL WORK STUDY ELIGIBLE. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE.
FITNESS CENTER Fitness Desk. Clerical responsibilities such as assisting in answering the phone, entering data into computer, answering questions about the Fitness Center, monitoring patrons to ensure proper registration, updating bulletin board information, and running errands to and from main campus offices. Maintaining and refilling all sani-wipe stations as needed. Keeping inventory for re-ordering purposes. Assists custodians in gym cleaning. Assists in keeping the facility neat on a daily basis. Making minor repairs to the weight training machines and benches as needed. Responds in case of emergencies. Must be CPR/AED/First Aid certified. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE.
LEARNING LAB Lab Assistant. Monitor test taking for lecture courses and online courses. Responsible for test received and picked up by the responsible faculty. Responsible for papers received and picked up by the students. They distribute DVDs, packet materials, and other course materials assigned by instructors. Data must be entered on the computer to maintain statistics. Filing, record keeping, sorting and storing of paperwork, DVDs and instructional materials, and attention to detail is essential. Must be willing to work/provide coverage in the LRC as needed. MUST HAVE A P.M. BLOCK AVAILABILITY M-TH AND FEDERAL WORK STUDY ELIGIBLE.
LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER Office Assitant. This position will answer phones, take messages, sort and distribute mail, keep general office area clean and orderly, maintain materials and fill copy machines, keep Scantron forms counted and available for use, general coverage of the office, and other duties as assigned within the Learning Resources Center. Must be willing to work/provide coverage in the Learning Lab as needed. MUST BE FEDERAL WORK STUDY ELIGIBLE.
LIBRARY Shelver. Shelve, shelf read, organize, and help in the processing of books, magazines and other library materials. Assisting staff in handing out prints and collecting money from patrons. Filling copy machines and printers, cleaning and sanitizing computers, and cleaning shelves and work areas. Pick up library materials from the book drops, and retrieving materials from around the library. Calling patrons to notify them of items that have arrived through interlibrary loan. Working on special projects such as the archive, and other duties as assigned. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE. MUST BE FEDERAL WORK STUDY ELIGIBILE.
SCHEDULING Secretarial/Reception. Assist as directed in the JALC facilities area. Duties may include both secretarial/reception responsibilities and facility set-up. Tasks may include answering phones, copying, maintaining work order binders, imputing data, posting signs, etc. Duties may also include placement of tables, chairs and furniture associated with the campus and campus events. Other duties as assigned. MUST HAVE A AFTERNOON AVAILABILITY MONDAY – THURSDAY.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES Clerical/reception and occasional light physical work. General clerical duties including answering phone, photocopying, on-campus errands, and computer work (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet browser, scheduling software, and other programs). Reception duties at Information Desk employing good customer service skills in-person and over the phone. Assist with club information and activities and club deposits including handling cash and checks. Box office duties including processing ticket orders in-person and over the phone, handling credit card information, checks, and cash and ushering duties, which excludes student workers from being cast in shows. Assist with student activities programming, special events, and museum exhibits. Other duties as assigned by Director. MUST BE AVAILABLE MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY’S 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. AND TUESDAY’S 2:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.
