The John A. Logan College women's basketball program has signed Gallatin County High School standout Tiffany Williams of Shawneetown for the 2008-2009 season. A first team All-State selection, Williams helped lead her team to a 23-7 record, a regional title, and the Goreville Class A sectional finals. A four-year starter for the Lady Hawks under the guidance of Coach Robert "Radar" Patton, she averaged over 17 points a game this year on 40 percent shooting from the field and set a school record with 2,131 points in her career.
"I'm looking forward to attending Logan," Williams said. "I like the school and all the people there seem really nice. I wanted my friends and family to be able to watch me play in college and they can do that at Logan. I'm also planning to study criminal justice, and Logan has a really good program for that."
"Tiffany is one of the best perimeter shooters in the state," said Marty Hawkins, head coach of the Lady Vols. "Last year she won the Class A three-point shooting contest. I think she'll give our post players some room to operate inside because defenders will have to guard her. She's also very competitive and a team player and I'm happy to have her on board."
