Anna Kowalska

John A. Logan College sophomore Anna Kowalska of Chicago has signed a letter of intent to play basketball next year at Kent State University in Ohio. A 6-foot-3 center, she averaged a double-double this season with a team-high 16.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while helping lead the Lady Vols to a 23-9 record and the semifinals of the Region 24 Tournament. She earned All-Region 24 honors this season and was named all-conference by the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.

"We feel very fortunate to sign a player of Anna's ability both in the classroom and on the court," said Bob Lindsay, head women's basketball coach at Kent State University. "She's a talented athlete, but more importantly, she's a quality person. She'll have a great opportunity to contribute right away for us next season."

Kowalska looked at other schools but felt that Kent State was the best fit for her.

"I visited the school, and I was very impressed with the campus and athletic facilities," Kowalska said. "It has a good basketball program, and I like all the coaches. It also has an excellent education department, and that's important to me because that's my major."
