John A. Logan College sophomore Jessica Gonzalez-Campo from Carouge Geneva, Switzerland, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball next year at the University of Toledo in Ohio. A 5-foot-6 guard, she was the Lady Vols' second-leading scorer this season, averaging 11.7 points per game. She also averaged nearly two assists and two steals per game as Logan went 23-9 and reached the semifinals of the Region 24 Tournament.
"Jessica is an outstanding athlete with a great passion for basketball and life in general," said Mark Ehlen, head women's basketball coach at the University of Toledo. "She'll bring great energy and enthusiasm to our team and will be a fun player to watch and coach. I'm really looking forward to working with her."
"I like the coaches at University of Toledo and when I visited the school, I knew that it was the place for me," Gonzalez-Campo said. "I met members of the basketball team and some of the professors. Everyone was nice and friendly. I liked the campus and felt really comfortable there."
