Logan's Brooks Taylor Signs with University of Central Arkansas

John A. Logan College sophomore Brooks Taylor has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball next year at the University of Central Arkansas. A 6-foot-3 guard, Taylor led the Volunteers in scoring at 16.5 points per game on 51 percent shooting from the field, including 40 percent from three-point range. He averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest this season, earning all-conference and All-Region 24 honors.

“Mark Imhoff does a great job with his program at John A. Logan and Brooks gained a valuable year of experience there,” said Rand Chappell, head men’s basketball coach at UCA. “We expect him to come in and give us a lift and some scoring punch, and we also look forward to the intangibles he brings as far as toughness, a great knowledge of the game, and the ability to make his teammates better.”

Taylor had a lot of other offers but says he wanted to go back home.

“I’m the leading scorer in Arkansas high school basketball history, and it has always been a dream of mine to play Division I college basketball in Arkansas. UCA is giving me the opportunity do that,” he said. “I’m glad my friends and family will be able to watch me play.”
