The John A. Logan College men's basketball team has signed three players, Jesse Perry, Derron Hobbs, and Kenny Harris, all of Gateway Tech High School in St. Louis for the 2008-09 season. This trio was an integral part of a Gateway Tech team that went 25-5 this season and won the Public High League title and the Class 5 District 4 championship.
"These young men were on a team that had a great year and was a game short of getting to the state tournament in Missouri," said Mark Imhoff, head coach of the Volunteers. "Perry is a 6-8 forward. He's a versatile player with a whole lot of potential. Hobbs is an outstanding point guard with great quickness. He's athletic, shoots the ball well, and his up-tempo style of play fits well with what we like to do here. Harris is also a good player. At 6-4, he has good size for a guard at our level. I think each of these guys will all be solid contributors on next year's team."
Imhoff is happy with the players he has signed so far but says recruiting is far from over.
"We feel like this is a great start for next season's group, but we still have a lot of work to do," he said.
