John A. Logan College sophomore Vincent Ateba from Orleans, France, has signed a scholarship to play basketball next year at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. A 6-foot-4 forward, he averaged 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 57 percent from the field and helping the Volunteers earn a 27-5 record and the Great Rivers Athletic Conference title.
"I'm really excited to have Vincent as a part of our program," said Robert Corn, head men's basketball coach at Missouri Southern. "He comes to us from an outstanding community college program and he was very involved in the success of that team. Former Lion assistant coach Gerad Good coaches there and his recommendation meant a lot to me. I expect Vincent to come in and contribute immediately. He's quick, has good size, and can be a good rebounder at the four spot."
Ateba says he is looking forward to playing at Missouri Southern next year.
"I really like the coaching staff. They showed a lot of interest in me all season and made feel wanted," he said. "When I visited the school, I liked it a lot. I met some of the other players, and I think I'll fit in well there."
