Specific Criteria for Consideration for the Volunteers Hall of Fame

An athlete satisfying one of the specific criteria will be nominated to the Hall of Fame. Satisfying one or more of the specific criteria automatically allows an athlete to be considered for nomination to the Hall of Fame following a five-year eligibility period.

  1. Professional athlete of a parent organization or club obtaining the ultimate in a career in a respective sport.
  2. First or second place in individual competition at the state level.
  3. First or second team All-American. (Academic All-American does not qualify.)
  4. Be a member of the United States Olympic team.
  5. The candidate must satisfy the above criteria at John A. Logan College or at a four-year college or university.

General Criteria for Consideration for the Volunteers Hall of Fame

An athlete satisfying all five of the general criteria may be nominated to the Hall of Fame.

  1. Must have been a competitor for a minimum of two years and awarded a varsity letter in at least one of those years.
  2. Must have been outstanding, as evidenced by such accomplishments as All-American, national champion or qualifier, recipient of various athletic awards and honors, special team nominations (all-state, all-region), school records set, statistics, professional teams, international competition, etc.
  3. Must have exhibited acceptable standards of conduct during competition.
  4. Graduation is preferred though not required. If the athlete did not graduate, he/she must have ended his/her community college career at John A. Logan College.
  5. Must have been out of college for a minimum of five years.

Nominations

  1. Nominations should be directed to the Hall of Fame committee or to the director of athletics. Each nomination should be submitted by an appropriate deadline determined by the committee.
  2. Any interested person(s) may submit the names of one or more nominees.
  3. If a nominee meets the recommended criteria, the athletic advisory committee will then present the nominee to the president of the College. The president may then present the nominee to the Board of Trustees.
