The Allied Health & Public Service at John A. Logan College strives to meet the varied health care and public service education needs of our district.
Allied Health Programs
Allied health programs currently offered include Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Services (basic, intermediate and paramedic levels), Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, Medical Assistant, and Health Information Technology.
Public Service Programs
The public service programs currently offered in our department include ASL Deaf Studies, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Emergency Medical Services (basic, intermediate and paramedic levels), Interpreter Preparation, and Massage Therapy.
Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market (SICCM)
John A. Logan College is also a member of the Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market (SICCM). The SICCM consortium consists of four community colleges and two major universities. A limited number of students from each community college district will be enrolled in, Medical Laboratory Technology, Occupational Therapy Assistant, and Surgical Technology programs each academic year.

The occupational therapy assistant program at Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market, Herrin, Illinois, was placed on Probationary Accreditation effective April 1, 2017 for failure to document significant progress toward correction of an area of noncompliance related to 2011 OTA Standards A.5.1. (program’s strategic plan).
The program has been requested to submit a Progress Report to return the program to full compliance with the Standards within the mandated time period for correction.
