Summer Honors Program
This is a program designed for high school juniors to allow them to pursue college course work while still in high school between their junior and senior years. Two juniors from each of our eleven district high schools will be chosen by their high school counselors to attend John A. Logan College during the summer semester. The College will provide a tuition and fee waiver to the two highest ranked students from each school who meet the following criteria and who want to start their college education early:
- Be ranked in the upper 20% of class (using all high school grades assigned up to the time application).
- Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.25 or more based on the 4.0 scale.
- Successfully completed 3 years of high school English and Math prior to enrolling in an English/Math course.
- Complete a John A. Logan College admission application by May 15.
- Successfully complete the ASSET examination with the required score to enter ENG 101, MAT 108 or 113 or any other academic class and be performing on a required reading level, or have a composite score of 21 or greater on the ACT.
- Approval by high school principal and John A. Logan College Director of Admissions.
- Eight semester hours of credit is the maximum number of hours for which students can enroll in the summer semester.
