  1. Is an ACT score required to get into John A. Logan College? No.
  2. Is an entrance exam required to get into John A. Logan? Yes. We give the ASSET or COMPASS test as an entrance requirement.
  3. Is there someone to help students pick their classes? Yes, we have an Academic Advising department with specialists in this area. They can be contacted at (618) 985-3741.
  4. Are students automatically accepted into John A. Logan? John A. Logan has an open-admissions policy to those who:
    • Have graduated from an accredited high school, or have received a GED Certificate
    • are at least 18 years of age, or are a high school graduate at least 16 years of age who has submitted an approved high school permission form.
    • After the application has been received, the applicant will receive an acceptance letter from the college.
  5. Can a student receive John A. Logan credit while still in high school? Yes. There are two ways to do so. One way is to take a class at John A. Logan around their high school schedule. Permission must be granted through the high school guidance office. Also, a student may already be receiving Tech Prep credit through an agreement with his or her high school. If students want to know if they're receiving Tech Prep credit, they should consult their teacher or department chair at their high school.
  6. Can students start at John A. Logan and then transfer to another school? Yes. We have academic advisors who will help students choose the proper classes for transfer to a four-year college or university. John A. Logan is the perfect place to complete the first two years of a bachelor's degree.
  7. Why do students have to take the placement tests? The placement tests allow John A. Logan to properly place students in the correct level class.
  8. Where can students take the placement tests? The placement tests are held in the Assessment Office in C205. Call (168) 985-3741 for the Assessment Office's hours of operation.
  9. How old does a student have to be to take a class at John A. Logan? 16 years old.
  10. Do you have housing on campus? No; but students can click here to look into local housing in our area.
  11. What sports teams do you offer? Men's baseball, women's softball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, and women's volleyball.
