Orientation Program

Welcome to the John A. Logan College On-Line Orientation Program!  This is an area designed to help you become acquainted with our college and its procedures and policies.  College-life is full of decisions, and we hope that the information within this orientation will help in making those decisions easier.

This online orientation has seven sections and each section may have multiple pages. Please go through each section in order and review the material.  We will also ask you to follow links to important Web sites and to view other important documents. After each section, you'll take a brief quiz, required to demonstrate you've understood this information.

When you've successfully completed the orientation and quizzes (with an 80% pass rate or higher), you are ready for classes at John A. Logan College .  You will also receive .5 credits towards your academic record with a successful completion of the orientation.   Good luck with the program, and welcome to John A. Logan College .
Step 1 Print these instructions from this page and then you can follow along. You will need to do each and every step until you have completed this entire page. DO NOT CREATE MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT! If you think that Blackboard failed to give you an account you are to contact the Blackboard Administrator by sending an E-Mail to stevemclaughlin@jalc.edu.
Step 2 Go to the following address to create a account: http://logan.blackboard.com. You must be online for this link to work. 
In the screen shot above you will notice that there is a Create Account button on the left. Click on the Create Account button now.

Whenever you wish to go to your account in the future, you will return to the above address to login using the Login button seen on the top left. You should bookmark this page for easy retrieval.
Step 3
Once you click on the Create Account button you will be taken to the page below. You must fill in all of the information that has a red asterisk (*) beside it (First and last name, E-Mail address, Student ID, username and password. Be sure to write down your username and password for future reference, but remember to keep it private.

Click on the Submit button located on the bottom right hand side of the page. It will be necessary to scroll down the page to see the submit button.
How to Enroll in your Orientation Program
Step 4

Once you have created your new account, the page below will appear. Notice that it has a Welcome and that your first name appears. Now click on the green tab marked Courses (circled below in red). This will take you to the Courses Page and allow you to enroll into your course.
Step 5

Click on the appropriate heading on the right to find your course. You may also type in your course ID on the left to search for your course.

Locate Student Orientation as shown above.
Step 6: Click on the enroll button as shown above.
Step 7: Once you click on the submit button you will be in the Orientation program and ready to begin.
