Upon completing all necessary documents to receive financial assistance, each student will be mailed a Financial Aid Award Letter. Two(2) copies will be mailed requesting one be signed, dated, and returned to the Financial Aid Office. The second copy is for your records . The award letter informs the student of the amount of Pell Grant funds they will receive based on full-time enrollment (12 hours or more) for the year.
Pell Grant checks are not disbursed until the 4th week of October (Fall), March (Spring), and June (Summer). Student loan checks are disbursed the second, third, and fourth months of each semester for fall and spring and by the end of the month in June for summer. No loans will be disbursed until the 10th week of the Fall and Spring Semesters due to JALC default rate.
Students having eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant and their eligibility covers the cost of tuition and fees, will be eligible for a book voucher to assist with book costs that will be deducted from their Pell Grant prior to a check being mailed. No MAP funds can be used for book vouchers due to no guarantee that funds will be available.
Students must make arrangements to cover expenses until funds are disbursed.
