Federal Stafford Loans

You MUST complete ALL of the following steps to receive a Federal Stafford Loan:

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the respective year
  2. Register for 6 hours of courses or more for the respective semester at JALC
  3. Complete your Financial Aid File with JALC Financial Aid Office
  4. Complete Entrance Counseling at http://mapping-your-future.org. Exit Counseling may also be completed at this time.
  5. Complete Loan Request Form by clicking here to download PDF file. Complete Borrowers Information Sheet by clicking here to download PDF file. The Loan Request Form and Borrowers Information Sheet must both be submitted to the Financial Aid Office prior to loan being calculated. The two (2) forms will not be accepted if the John A. Logan College Financial Aid Office has not received confirmation from your lender that the student's online application has been received by the lender.
  6. Students will be notified by the lender of any further information that is needed to finalize the loan process. Respond quickly to their requests to avoid delays in receiving loan funds. No loan disbursements will be made prior to the 10th week of the semester.
  7. Students RECEIVING student loans must remain enrolled and complete coursework to receive loan proceeds
  8. *Complete Exit Counseling at http://mapping-your-future.org prior to final exams for the respective semester in which the first disbursement was received.

Then choose Federal Stafford Loans. The list of established lenders has been provided to assist our students with choosing a lender. These lenders have been listed because of their superior customer service and outstanding savings. However, students may choose a lender that is not listed.
