David Bond – American Chicken
- 2007
- Poetry Book
Striking imagery and precise diction are characteristics of American Chicken, from the eloquence of the elegiac “Rend Lake at Sunset,” a poetic reflection on the southern Illinois mining landscape where “hills of scoured coal smolder,” to the tragic-comic nostalgia and regret inherent in the title poem, as the narrator envies those who made the hard Vietnam choices he evaded.

Yavonne Field-Bagwell – You Can’t Trick Me
- 1999
- Children’s Book
This cute, fun mini-book is perfect for young twins who love reading time and/or who are just learning to read on their own (ages 2-5 and for early readers). Written by a mother of identical twins and wonderfully illustrated, it’s a quick read that teaches an important lesson to twins everywhere. We don’t want to give away the ending, but suffice to say that mom explains to her boys how she can tell them apart. It’s a moral that twins everywhere probably need to be reminded about, even those older twins who probably have stopped trying to trick people years ago.
You can purchase this book through Twins Magazine

She wanted to give a copy to each of her four children and then decided the grandkids also needed to know about their parents’ childhood. That was the impetus for the family history project of turning the columns into a book.
