What is Tech Prep?

Tech Prep is a sequence of study that begins the junior year of high school and continues through at least two years of college. The program parallels the college prep course of study and provides an alternative to the general education program.
 

How much does Tech Prep cost?

There is no cost for the Tech Prep program. High school students can earn up to 12 hours of John A. Logan College credit free of charge.

 Why is Tech Prep needed?

To be competitive in today's workforce, your child needs to be knowledgeable in math, science, technical principles and communication. Tech Prep offers your child innovative courses that address these areas while preparing him/her for the workforce or enrollment at John A. Logan College.
 

How will my child benefit from the Tech Prep program?

Tech Prep will provide your child with a strong academic focus while training him/her to enter the workplace. It provides a jump-start into a chosen career field or an Associate degree from John A. Logan College.
 

What is the relationship between my child's high school and John A. Logan College?

Your child's high school forms a partnership with the Tech Prep program at John A. Logan College. The curriculum is coordinated between the high school and college to assure all requirements are being met.
 

How can my child enroll in the Tech Prep program?

Talk to your child's high school guidance counselor. The counselor can help your child explore the various career paths available through the Tech Prep program.
 

What is an articulation agreement?

An articulation agreement is a cooperative agreement between your child's high school and John A. Logan College. This agreement helps make the transition from high school to John A. Logan College a smooth one.
 

How does my child earn college credit?

Your child must complete all of the Tech Prep courses in high school with an average of 80% or better. Following high school graduation, your child enrolls in the chosen program of study at John A. Logan College.
