| ENG 099 1 credit hour This course is to prepare students for the Reading Comprehension and Language Art domains of the enhanced Basic Skills Test of the Illinois Certification Testing System (ICTS). Candidates seeking an education major for entry into the program are required to take and pass a basic skills test. The skills addressed in this course will prepare students to demonstrate literal, inferential and critical reading skills in a variety of written materials and demonstration of the ability to write effectively at the college level, with control over the conventions of edited English in the United States, as well as the ability to exercise critical thinking and reflection in written communications. MAT 099 1 credit hour This course is designed to prepare students for the math component of the enhanced Basic Skills Test of the Illinois Certification Testing System (ICTS). Candidates seeking an education major for entry into the program are required to take and pass a basic skills test. The skills addressed in this course will prepare student to demonstrate quantitative literacy at the college level through the application of mathematical methods and reasoning to solutions of real-world problems. |
