Mission Statement
John A. Logan College promotes success for all students. To encourage success, proper educational placement is essential. The College offers several developmental education courses to promote the potential obtainment of basic academic skills. Placement is prescribed by scores made by the student on our official diagnostic assessment tool. This information is used, as well as other relevant information, to make an informed placement decision.

There are many opportunities for all students at the College. John A. Logan College is committed to providing those opportunities and supportive services to meet individual needs. The goal of developmental education is to prepare students for the next level of academics and/or to enable students to meet their personal goals. The courses in the developmental units do not carry credit toward graduation.

John A. Logan College offers individual developmental courses as well as a developmental curriculum program to meet the unique needs of students. The developmental curriculum guide builds upon the student's strengths while decreasing the need area, encouraging academic success. Students identified as needing developmental instruction must successfully complete the developmental coursework prior to enrolling in General Transfer Education courses or before progressing to the next academic level.
