Adult Secondary Education Program
Welcome to the John A. Logan College site for the Adult Secondary Education program. The programs in this
area are designed to help students work toward high school completion, post-secondary planning, successful
employment, and career exploration. Please call if we can help you or someone you know.
Adult Secondary Education (Alternative High School/ASE)
The program is offered to students who:
- Are no longer attending regular high school
- Are at-risk of school failure in their regular school environment
- Are between the ages of 16-21
- Obtain written permission from the sending high school principal
The ASE program offers the following services:
- An intensive, comprehensive program for dropout youth, including education, counseling, support services, community service activities, and internship opportunities.
- An educational program allowing students the opportunity to earn credit toward high school graduation.
- A program of counseling and communication for students, parents, and staff.
- Assessment and counseling in academic, vocational, and life skill areas.
Final decisions regarding admissions will be made by the John A. Logan College Adult Secondary Education Staff.

Early School Leaver Program (ESLP)
The Early School Leaver Program (ESLP) is designed to prepare students with skills that will increase their
opportunity for job attainment or career advancement. Through cooperative education, students will increase
career awareness and explore individual career and transition goals.
How can YOU qualify?
- Between 16 - 21 years of age.
- Not currently attending traditional high school.
- Have not completed high school diploma requirements.
- Want on-the-job work experience.
- Committed to continuing high school/secondary education.
Do YOU need help finding employment?
- Classroom activities focus on resumes, applications, letters of application, and interviewing techniques.
- Receive job-search assistance.
Do YOU need help deciding on a career?
- Assess career goals using career interest and personal values inventories and computer-aided technology.
- Explore post-secondary training options by job or class shadowing.
- Vocational assessment and counseling.
